Edna St. Vincent Millay
(February 22, 1892 -- Oct 19, 1950)
Edna's candle burned at both ends
of my journey into poetry.
For many poets her words gave
a lovely light to the art of the written word.
In the late 1990's I journeyed to the woods
around Steepletop. Though the House was closed
at the time, I was able to capture an image of
the autumn trees where I imagine the poet might have walked.
This picture appeared on the cover of my book,
Something Untamed. (The publisher changed the book
cover for the 2nd run.)
